About the Dellwood Barn Wedding Venue

Dellwood Barn Weddings began as a dream, but the land has always been real. This Minnesota barn wedding venue was homesteaded in the 1860s and stayed in the same family for five generations. It operated as a working dairy farm for more than a century before we transformed it into a space for modern celebrations rooted in history.

Since opening for weddings in 2013, we've helped hundreds of couples host events that feel relaxed and grounded. Our team added climate control, built out full bar service, created a full-scale decor rental offering, and shaped the property to support a true all-in-one experience. There’s no shuttling between sites or scrambling for setup. Just a full day on a historic farm wedding venue that’s both welcoming and well-run.

Dellwood Barn Weddings is a locally owned and family-run venue located near Stillwater and White Bear Lake. We’re proud to be part of the wedding landscape in this part of Minnesota, especially for couples looking for both comfort and character.

A legacy of farming, family, and unforgettable celebrations.

The Story of Our Barn

Minnesota Becomes a State

Minnesota officially became a state in 1858, and during the same year the township of Grant was established. Early settlers arrived in the area seeking fertile farmland and opportunities in the growing lumber industry.

1858

Arcand Family Homesteads the Farm

The property that would later become Dellwood Barn was originally homesteaded in the 1860s by the Arcand family. Over time, the farm became a working agricultural property and an important part of the local farming community.

1860

Operated as a Dairy Farm

For more than a century, the Arcand family operated the property as a dairy farm. Five generations worked the land, building a strong farming legacy and maintaining the historic barn that still stands today. The farm was referred to as the "perfect dairy farm" by magazines across the country

Late 1800s–1900s

Growth of the Grant Community

As the region developed, the eastern portion of Grant remained primarily agricultural while areas closer to White Bear Lake grew into residential communities. This period shaped the rural character that still defines the area today.

Early 1900s

A Vision for a Wedding Venue

In the early 2000s, the idea of transforming the historic barn into a wedding venue began to take shape. The goal was to preserve the barn’s historic charm while creating a beautiful space for celebrations.

Early 2000s

Renovation and Transformation

After years of planning and restoration, work began to transform the dairy barn into a modern event venue. The renovation carefully blended the barn’s historic architecture with updated amenities needed for weddings and events.

2010s

Dellwood Barn Weddings

More than 150 years after the farm was first established, the historic barn now serves as a premier wedding venue in the Minneapolis–St. Paul area. Couples gather here to celebrate their special day while surrounded by the beauty and history of the countryside.

About Grant, MN

“In 1858, Minnesota became a state. In the same year Grant became one of the very first organized townships in the state.

Prior to 1858 pioneers began arriving in the area mainly from New England and New York lured by the lumber industry and potential farmland more productive than the stony, exhausted farms of the Northeast. When Minnesota gained its statehood from its status as a territory, there was a sufficient enough population in the Grant area to allow the establishment of a township government.

The original township was the standard 36 square miles (36 sections) running westward from present day Manning Avenue to the Ramsey County line. Grant’s original name was Greenfield Township named after a resident’s hometown in Massachusetts. During the Civil War (1861-1865) several young men from the community served in the Union Army. By 1964 President Lincoln had appointed Gen. Ulysses S. Grant as Commanding General of the Union Army. Hope was in the air that the Union would finally triumph. There was another Greenfield Township located in Hennepin County. So with the twofold purpose of eliminating a duplicate name and honoring a war hero, the resident renamed the township as Grant.

Over the first 60 years a pattern of settlement took place. The eastern 2/3 of Grant was agricultural. The western 1/3 situated on or near White Bear Lake developed into cottage and residential areas. In the early part of the 20th century this difference in lifestyle came to a head. In 1918 the western portion separated from Grant and became Lincoln Township; the more settled communities in that area incorporated over the year to become Mahtomedi, Dellwood, Willernie, Birchwood Village, and a portion of Pine Springs. There are even small parcels of the original township located along the East County Line Road that are a part of the city of White Bear Lake.

In 1972 the balance of the southern portion of Lincoln Township merged with Mahtomedi. The remaining rural part of Lincoln which included portions of Sections 5 and 6 had rejoined Grant making up our northwest corner. Present day Grant consists of 27 square miles (approximately 17,000 acres).”

"The Dellwood Barn was an excellent venue for our rustic, country themed wedding"

“The Dellwood Barn was an excellent venue for our rustic, country themed wedding. The owners were very accommodating with the things we wanted to do and how we wanted to decorate. The location is great by being close to hotels and the twin cities. We highly recommend this venue for those that like the country style and want to be creative and artistic with your decorating desires. The possibilities are endless.”

"I just wanted to send a HUGE thank you for our beautiful wedding."

“It was wonderful weather and the day could not have been any more perfect. It was so special to have my wedding at your barn and see my vision of "rustic elegant" come to life. You guys were wonderful to work with, and Julie, you put so much time and effort into making sure everything went smoothly. I loved all the little special touches from the tractor to the wood benches for cocktail hour and the lace around the doorway. The lights in the barn sparkled and even the bathrooms were fantastic! Thank you for helping my dream become a reality”
